At the heart of the board is Duotone's Hollow Shell Composite Construction, an advanced monocoque carbon sandwich technology that dramatically reduces weight while maintaining exceptional stiffness and structural strength. Ultra-Light D/LAB Construction

The defining feature of the Skybrid D/LAB is its revolutionary Hollow Shell Composite construction.

Rather than using a conventional full-core construction, Duotone builds the board around a lightweight internal composite stringer system enclosed within a high-spec carbon sandwich shell. The resulting monocoque structure provides an impressive stiffness-to-weight ratio while reducing overall board weight by more than 30% compared with the equivalent SLS construction. 

This dramatic reduction in weight isn't simply noticeable when carrying the board to the beach — it transforms the way it feels on the water.

The reduced swing weight allows the Skybrid D/LAB to respond almost instantly to rider input, making pumping, carving, manoeuvring and directional changes feel exceptionally quick and precise. The sensation is much closer to riding a lightweight prone board, but without sacrificing the stability and flotation of a higher-volume platform.

Effortless Early Take-Off

The Skybrid D/LAB has been carefully shaped around efficiency. Its longer, narrower outline and reduced bottom surface help minimise drag and allow the board to accelerate rapidly during the take-off phase.

The optimised rocker and bottom shape work together with the low weight to make the board exceptionally easy to get onto foil. Less energy is required to accelerate and pump the board, making the Skybrid D/LAB particularly effective in lighter winds, marginal conditions and smaller swell.

Once the board is moving, its efficient waterline helps maintain speed and glide, giving you more freedom to ride smaller wings and take advantage of every available gust or bump.

Diamond Tail and Wide Deck

The diamond tail provides an effective balance between stability, clearance and manoeuvrability. Combined with the pulled-in bottom shape and increased rail bevels, it helps the board release cleanly from the water while remaining predictable during touchdowns.

Above the waterline, the deck is deliberately wider towards the tail. This creates additional room for an offset stance, making the board particularly comfortable when riding strapless through waves, swell and downwind bumps.

For riders using footstraps, the wider standing area also provides a stable platform for higher-speed freeriding and more aggressive manoeuvres. 

Direct Foil Connection

The recessed deck brings the rider closer to the foil, creating a direct and responsive connection between the rider, board and foil.

This lower stance improves feedback and control, particularly when carving, pumping or riding at speed. Combined with the extremely stiff carbon shell, the D/LAB feels highly precise underfoot, allowing experienced riders to make quick adjustments without the board feeling delayed or disconnected.

The board also features extended carbon foil tracks, providing a wide range of foil-position adjustment. This allows riders to fine-tune the setup for different foil sizes, riding styles and conditions.
