Tested by us at Shops 1st Try, Snowboard industry event Alpbach, Austria.

"I rode the Bataleon Whatever Snowboard in a 148cm, im around 63kg. I normally prefer to ride Softer - Mid Flex Snowboards, so at a flex of  5/10, the Whatever was perfect for me.

I really liked the 3BT base, which is a standout feature for Bataleon Snowboards. It features a Hyper Glide Sintered Base which was fast and smooth on turns.

The nose and tail have an almost rounded uplifted shape to them, making it less catchy, so you dont have to worry so much about catching your edge. I tested this on quite an Icy day and didnt slide out at all.

The Whatever is a great Unisex Snowboard that rides exceptionally well in Park, Powder and on the Piste. Another best seller from Bataleon for us at Wetndry!" - Hannah, Shop Manager.

Bataleon Whatever Snowboard 2025

The Whatever's outline looks strikingly directional, yet its contact surface is twin. It's the ultimate ride for those seeking the best of both worlds. Perfect for park days, hot laps, or powder lines, the Whatever embodies versatility. Part of our genderless collection, it caters to riders of all sizes with an extensive length range.

Flex: 5/10
Softer snowboards are easier to press and won’t kick your ass if you make a mistake. Stiffer decks are more stable at speed and super responsive edge-to-edge. Choose your poison.

Float: 61/100
Maximum volume for surfy vibes in the pow, or a smaller surface area for nimble freestyle performance. This number is calculated with length, width, 3D shape and surface distribution.

Shape:

  • Directional Twin All-Mountain - Boards that need to excel both on the slopes and out of bounds are shaped with evenly proportioned centre and side bases and a medium uplift striking the optimal balance for freestyle and free riding.
  • Medium Camber - Camber profiles are defined from low to high. Higher camber make for more dynamic boards that need to be ridden more aggressively to get maximum performance. Lower camber boards are smoother on lower speeds and in powder. All camber profiles run from nose to tail. higher is not always better...
  • 3BT™ + Sidekick™ - Combining the responsiveness of traditional tip-to-tail camber with the dynamic shaping properties of Triple Base Technology and the performance boosting Sidekick feature makes for a 3D snowboarding experience like no other.

Nose Sidebase Uplift - Medium
The gradual side base uplift in the nose determines how the board will behave on snow. most effected are the edge to edge performance and the uplift generated when riding powder.

Tail Sidebase Uplift - Medium
The gradual side base uplift in the tail determines how the board will behave on snow. Any amount of uplift brings all the benefits of Triple Base Technology making our boards more versatile then others.

Construction:

  • Glassing: Bi-Ax Lamination - A traditional two-way weave that is light, strong and playful; it keeps the board snappy without adding torsional stiffness, which is great for getting creative.
  • Wood core: Light Core - 50/50 Paulownia and poplar creates a balanced core that’s lively yet strong.
  • Base: Hyper Glide S - Our standard sintered base that’s durable and fast – and even faster when you keep it waxed.
  • 28 Inserts - A-grade German stainless steel inserts make sure you are locked to your board. These high quality inserts can take years of binding stance switches.
  • +2 Backseat Inserts - Backseat inserts are an set of extra inserts 4cm behind the bottom inserts. This allows you to set your bindings all the way back, so you can keep floating on those deep pow days. By shifting your weight more back on the board the nose stays up and the pressure on you back leg is reduced.
  • D.S.T. SuperTubes - Dual Super Tubes, a Super Tube on either side of the board enhances pop and gives the camber more snap.
  • Carbon Stringers - Our tried and tested carbon layups. We deploy them in different areas to fine-tune the feel of each model.
  • Base - Flip Flop Base - Die-cut bases are like a jigsaw. Flip Flop minimises waste by using two or more colour options for each piece. That means more unique graphics and less environmental harm.

Features:

3BT Triple Base Technology:
At the heart of every Bataleon is a combination of 3BT™ and positive camber. It’s an innovative solution to the profile puzzle that minimises the potential for edge-catch without sacrificing ollie power or carving performance. From this starting point, we fine-tune each element according to the boards desired riding style.

Sidekick:
SideKick™ builds on the concept of Triple Base by increasing the side base uplift just outside the widest points of the nose and tail. The tips become more like a hull, boosting float in deep snow and slicing through crud. It also helps the board to roll quickly and evenly from edge to edge.

Supertubes:
Supertubes™ are hollow carbon cylinders that are inserted directly into the core. They reinforce the camber, reduce weight and greatly increase pop. By varying their location we can fine-tune the board’s performance further.
